Planning a Gorilla Trekking Safari?

Famously known for its mountain gorilla treks and biodiversity, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has been voted among the top three best adventure destinations in the world at the recently held TOURISE Global Tourism Awards. Held on November, 10th, 2025 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Bwindi which sits on the western Bank of the East African Rift Valley firmly held third position right after Ancash in Peru and Galàpagos in Ecuador. This doesn’t come as a surprise as Bwindi holds half of the World’s population of gorillas and this just placed Uganda among the world’s leading adventure destinations celebrated for their extra-ordinary landscapes, biodiversity and sustainable tourism practices. Speaking at the event, Professor James Kalema, Chairman of the Uganda Wildlife Authority ( UWA) Board of Trustees, who was attending the ceremony in Riyadh said the recognition affirms Uganda as a global Conservation and adventure tourism leader. “This accolade is a powerful endorsement of Uganda’s commitment to conservation-led tourism . Bwindi demonstrates how protecting nature can create meaningful adventure experiences while empowering communities and sustaining national development,” he said. The TOURISE Global Tourism Awards recognise destinations that combine innovation, sustainability and visitor experience to shape the future of travel. This event brings together policy makers, tourism authorities and industry leaders from across the world to celebrate excellence and rensponsible tourism models that benefit both people and the planet. Home to over 160 species of trees, 350 birds and over 100 species of ferns, Bwindi is found in the misty, mountainous areas of the South Western region of the Pearl of Africa and shared among three districts Kisoro, Kibale and Kanungu.
